Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a difficult season, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
